Invisalign® Treatment From Your Dentists in Staten Island
An innovative orthodontic system that utilizes clear, custom-made aligners to straighten teeth and improve confidence in a patient's smile, the Invisalign system is virtually invisible, enabling patients to maintain their confidence while undergoing orthodontic treatment.
At Drs. Galligan & Villa Dental Studio in Staten Island, we've seen the transformative effects of Invisalign time and time again, and we'd be happy to discuss whether this system might be right for you!
What's involved with the Invisalign treatment process?
Patients who choose to treat their smile with Invisalign will first have impressions taken of their teeth and jaw, which the Invisalign team will use to create a 3D image of the patient's mouth. A customized treatment plan will then be designed based on this scan and will outline the number of aligners required, how often they should be changed, and how long it should take for the patient's teeth to move into their desired position.
How long should each aligner be worn?
Patients will typically need to wear each aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next in the series. To ensure optimal results, the aligners must be worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day.
How should aligners be cared for?
Aligners need to be removed before eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, and flossing. They should be soaked in lukewarm water to keep them clean. Patients should also avoid exposing aligners to hot water as this may cause them to warp and not fit properly.
Is everyone a candidate for Invisalign?
The Invisalign system is designed to treat mild to moderate malocclusion, so it may not be suitable for everyone. However, following a thorough examination, our experienced team of dentists will confirm whether or not treatment is likely to benefit your smile.
