Am I a Candidate for Invisalign®?
Are you an adult with the need for some teeth straightening or alignment? If so, does the idea of classic braces make you cringe? Most adults would dread wearing clunky and unsightly metal braces, and so they just stick with their crooked smile. Unfortunately, this is not always the wisest choice, and Drs. Galligan and Villa Dental Studio in Staten Island, NY want to help you discover if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®.
If the idea of “clear braces” that few people would detect appeals, then you are probably a candidate for Invisalign. This is because they are an entirely unique approach to straightening the teeth through the use of clear aligners. These are trays that are custom designed for your needs. Each patient has a full assessment and if they are deemed a suitable candidate, a series of these Invisalign trays are made. They are worn for two weeks or more, painlessly and invisibly adjusting the teeth and bite.
No one will know you are having this work done because few will even detect the clear trays over the teeth. You wear them, safely and comfortably, at all times (taking them out to eat, drink and do your daily oral hygiene). In as little as six months, you may even have a newly aligned and flawlessly straightened smile.
Of course, just needing straightening is not enough to ensure you are a candidate for Invisalign. You will have to pay a visit to us as your dentist in Staten Island. We will do the proper assessment to determine if Invisalign is a workable solution for your needs. Because no two people are alike, you may discover that you require only a single set or many sets of the aligners, and this may make you less of a candidate.
Why? You may have cost as a driving factor and multiple sets can add up to the same price (or more) than wire or clear braces. Also, time may be a factor, and if you need only mild alignment, there could be alternative cosmetic dentistry solutions such as porcelain veneers. Not all adults are ideal candidates, since some also have extensive orthodontic requirements that demand different methods.
